Team Namstrops is a dance company that actively experiments with displaying and performing physical education in art spaces (physical education from a contemporary art perspective) in Japan and abroad. In partnership with Miyazaki University and Miyazaki Prefecture, it was chosen in 2017 as a pilot project by the Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, and Technology’s EDU-Port Japan program, through which ‘creative dance’ that originated with Namstrops is being exported. Namstrops’ registered trademarks are ‘Dancing sportsman,’ ‘Watching dance as a sport,’ and ‘Yummy arts.’

A dance unit led by Ozono Koji and Hashimoto Noriyasu.
Its theme is searching for the roots of dance. Kaeru P works around the clock to create works inspired by the idea that dance’s nature should be grounded in everyday life. It receiv ed the 4th Elsur Foundation New Face Award for contemporary dance. Its principal works thus far include “The Sun” and “Su-Pa-Su-ha-”.

Yokohama National University Modern Dance Club

The Yokohama National University Modern Dance Club
currently has twenty-one members. It won the Jury Prize at the 30th All Japan Dance Festival -Kobe, for “Hollow Thoughts of Food—Questioning the Present, in Which Corporate Slaves”Live, and, for the first time in the history of that club, received prizes three years in a row. Its many graduates active in a wide range of dance-related fields include Kondo Ryohei, director of CONDORS. Its members engage in ongoing creative activities in search of their own unique worldviews.

“Akarenga Dance Project connects Theatre with Company / Community”
Having produced Yokohama Dance Collection, an international dance festival, for 23 years, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No.1 works on a project aiming at familiarizing the theatre through dance with the keyword ‘Let dance prevail from Yokohama, connect through dance!’
Kiyoken, which celebrates the 110th anniversary, and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No.1 will present a co-produced original dance performance.
