“ON VIEW” is a dance project which interrogates the boundaries and relationships between dance and spectator through the medium of film. The project is comprised of a series of works in which various aspects of dance captured on film are presented through three different formats—online streaming (short film), video installation, and live performance. “Portraits of Dance Artists” is a dance film created in collaboration with dance artists of diverse backgrounds, careers, and ages. The work is the culmination of previous stages of the project bringing together the “portraits” of some 20 dance artists filmed in Sydney in 2015, Hong Kong in 2017, and Aichi in 2018.
