Dance is movement rooted in the body and the senses. Rather than information converted into signals and presented to the eye, dance is reality transformed by the body’s movements. In 2014, Hiroyuki MIURA began his creative work, basing it on the concept that “Creation occurs through continuous movement.” After presenting her creations in Kobe, Akita, Okayama, and Kyoto, now, at last, she brings them to Yokohama.
Director of M-laboratory, Art Director at Works-M, choreographer, dancer. In 1993, he began working in Butoh at the Tatsumi HIJIKATA Memorial Asbestos Hall. He has since performed as choreographer and dancer in more than forty cities and 21 countries around the globe. In 1999, he formed the <M-laboratory dance company>, which has performed twenty-four works throughout the world. In 2002 he began his solo performances. He has created, performed, and conducted workshops both in and outside of Japan, primarily in Asia. In 2010 he launched the art unit <Works-M>, which has presented its creations in Tokyo, Kobe, Okayama, Fukuoka, and Okinawa. At Yokohama Dance Collection 2005 he received the National Association Members Prize. He was awarded the Grand Prix at the Tokyo Midtown Awards #2.
Kasumi ADACHI
Dancer/Choreographer. After being a domestic and overseas trainee under the program of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, joined several tours as a dancer within and outside Japan, such as the United States, Ireland, Sarajevo, Estonia and Russia. Currently based in Tohoku region (the North-Eastern parts of Japan).
Naoka UEMURA
Dancer/Choreographer. Studied dance under Kuniko Kisanuki and also dance and Eurythmy under Akira Kasai. From 1995, started performing original solo dance. In recent years, continually working as a duo, Mitsutake Kasai × Naoka Uemura. Received the 36th new artist award of the Dance Critics Association.
Eiji SAITO
Dancer/Theater director. Participated in performances of Kim Itoh + the Glorious Future, M-laboratory and Makotocluv within and outside Japan. In 2010, established a performing group called Sekai-Souchi and released works in Tokyo, Germany and Hong Kong.
Kikue TAKAGI
While being a university student, performed and choreographed as a member of . Performed in the works of Tsuyoshi Shirai, Hiroyuki Miura and so on. Currently having a dance class at Hatsunekan Studio in Kyoto and continuing to work on a respectful dialogue with a body.
Daiji MEGURO
In 2001, joined Asbestos Studio and studied under Akiko Motofuji. Joined the launch of a dance unit by Ko Murobushi, Ko&Edge Co. and presented works in 29 cities, 14 countries. In 2010, made a visit to the United States as a trainee under the overseas study program for upcoming artists of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
Genta IWAMURA
Stage lighting designer. From 1985, carrying out creative activities in the field of theaters and stages. Representative of Nishijin Factory Garden. Being in charge of illumination design and realization for Ushio Amagatsu at Sankai Juku since 1990.
Yasuno MIYAUCHI
Composer. Publishes works in an original way based on organic rhythms such as breathing. Received an “Honorary Mention” in the category of Digital Music at Prix Ars Electronica in 2008. Received the 6th JFC Composer’s Award held by the Japan Federation of Composers Inc. in 2011.
Naomi INOUE
After working at a design studio and a planning department of an apparel brand, became a supervisor at Itohen Design Studio. Produced clothes in the regional contribution special research of Okayama Prefectural University, “Research on the Development of Natural Material Textiles’’. Won a prize at International Fashion Design Competition.
Yamamoto KAZUMA
Choreographer and dancer. Presents solo works in Japan and abroad. Participates in Study Dance Abroad, At Home @ Kobe, organized by Dance Box, a nonprofit organization. As a dancer, performs in work choreographed by Miura Hiroyuki. Finalist in Yokohama Dance Collection EX II 2014.
