Home > What's Yokohama Dance Collection R?
Yokohama Dance Collection R was launched in 1996 and revamped in 2005 as the largest contemporary dance market in Asia. The main site for this festival is the Red Brick Warehouse Number 1 in Yokohama.
Competing, watching, gathering, learning: the four aspects of Yokohama Dance Collection R include the competition itself, performances by previous prizewinners, workshops, the showcase, and symposiums, a rich array of possibilities for enjoying dance from many different perspectives. As of December, 2005, 38 sets of prizewinners had had the experience of giving 307 performances overseas, and the festival had become one of Yokohama’s most significant programs for transmitting information and culture to the wider world.
The “R” is packed with meaning: Real, Rise Respect, Red, Renew, Revolution. Yes, Yokohama Dance Collection R is remarkable.
