ON VIEW : Japan『Portraits of Dance Artists』
Sue Healey Video Installation
‘ON VIEW’ is a dance project that pursues the boundaries of the relationship between dance and spectatorship through video. Various aspects of dance, caught through the eyes of the camera, are reconstructed into 3 different versions, an online streaming, a video installation, and a live performance. This is the first presentation of the Japanese version of the installation portion of the project.
‘ON VIEW’ seamlessly combines dance and video to interro gate ideas about portraiture, identity and the moving body. The works evoke the reverential spaces of a portrait gallery, a place where the moving body is analysed and the nature of portraiture is dissected and queried. It celebrates artists with unique skills, exposing diverse philosophies of moving and ways of thinking through the body. Directed by Sue Healey : Sydneybased choreographer, educator, filmmaker and installation artist, Sue is one of Australia’s foremost independent dancemakers.
