    YOKOHAMA DANCE COLLECTION R 2008
【The French Embassy Prize for Young Choreographer】

Dancer, choreographer, leader of <TOKYO ELECTROCK STAIRS>.
Born in 1980. While using techniques, mainly from Hip-hop, as his base, he practices his own mode of expression, breaking away from existing stylized approaches to dance. His style is narrative dance loosely synchronized with the original sound sources he himself creates, composed by thoroughly weaving together the meaningful and the meaningless. In 2008, he won the 「Yokohama Dance Collection R」 French Embassy Prize for Young Choreographers and the Audience Prize and Next Stage Special Prize at「the Toyota Choreography Awards 2008」. In 2010, he received the Japan Dance Forum Award. He has received many invitations to perform abroad. Following a one-man tour in three German cities last year, he repeated the tour in three Indian cities this year. In addition to his solo work, he is also the leader of the dance company Tokyo Electrock Stairs. Whether solo or with his company, he brings vigorous ideas and dance to Japan and the world.

The perpetual next-generation dance company, <TOKYO ELECTROCK STAIRS> makes effective use of the rich variations based on pure dance and original music to create an everyday yet wondrous world. The name of the company packs in their aspiration to work in Tokyo, Japan, and the dreams and beliefs they aim for. It was formally launched at a performance of "Peacing in the Snow" in December of 2008 at the Kichijoji Theater. Since then, the company has presented five long and two short pieces at its annual independent performances. In June of last year, it unveiled its “Todokete Kaibutsu-kun (Bring it on, Monster)” at Theatre Tram and, in December, successfully completed its first independent tour of three German cities. In 2013, the company plans to release three new works. Acting on its motto, 『To touch your heart and break through it,』 to infuse dance with whimsical ideas, this dance company has its heart set on the notion that it can bring even more vigor to its work.
