 <Complex Program> Vision of Europe


IWABUCHI Takiko returns to Yokohama four years after being awarded a prize in the Yokohama Dance Collection R compétition, studying in France, and expanding her creative range and reach. IWABUCHI, Japan's leading choreographer in the world of contemporary dance today, will present a performance to look forward to indeed. In addition, as special <Complex Program>, works by French and German choreographers will be performed as well. This occasion will thus offer a rare opportunity to enjoy several superb performances at one event.

"Against Newton"

Winner of 【French Embassy Prize for Young Choreographers】
【Yokohama Culture Foundation Prize】in the Solo x Duo <Compétition> 2001

Studied contemporary dance at the Laban Centre in London. Took part as a dancer in projects with Herve Robbe, Ted Stoffer, and others; founded lt;Dance Theatre LUDENS> in 1999. Major works include "Be", "Es", and "Distance", commissioned by the Park Tower Next Dance Festival, "Against Newton" and "Against Newton II" at the New National Theater, and "Moments" at Yokohama Dance Collection R 2006. In 2005, won the 'Japan Dance Critics Newcomer Award' for "Distance". Has also performed to great acclaim at major festivals in nine countries, including Impuls Tanz (Austria) and ADF (USA). Recently has been broadening her range of activities to include, in addition to her dance company, solo performances, international collaboration in choreography with Julie Nioche, and producing Tokyo International Dance Workshop / ReAction since 2007.

Complex Program "Vision of Europe

Fabrice Mazliah 
studied dance in his hometown Geneva, at The National School of Athens and in the Rudra Bejart Atelier in Lausanne. He was part of the Nederlands Dans Theater in Holland before joining in 1997 the Ballett Frankfurt. He is currently part of the Forsythe company. Fabrice has produced several works of his own, and in collaboration with other artists, pieces like "remote versions" and "double b(l)ind" with the chekroun/mazliah/san martin collectif, or "P.A.D." with Ioannis Mandafounis, the work "HUE" created in december 2007 for and with 6 other artists from Forsythe Company, presented at the Bockenheimer depot in Frankfurt. Is latest work ZERO created in collaboration with May Zarhy and Mandafounis, produced by the Kunstenfestivaldesarts, The Kunstlerhaus Mousonturm, The Rencontres Chregraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint -Denis, Pact Zollverein and the festival Automne en Normandie where it was premiered November 2009. These pieces have been shown in numerous venues and Festival across Europe.

Perrine Valli

Born in Aix en Provence in 1980
Franco-swiss dancer and choreographer Perrine Valli works with choreographers Estelle Heritier and Cindy Van Acker for whom she dances in several pieces ("A5", "Corps 00:00","Kernel"...).
In January of 2005 she creates her own company, the Association Sam-Hester, and also her first piece, "Ma cabane au Canada".
In 2006, she receives a three-year residency at the pluridisciplinary centre Mains d'Oeuvres in Paris, and finishes her second piece, "Serie".
Created in collaboration with musician Colleen, the piece is presented in Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain, where it wins first prize at the Masdanza international choreography contest and this piece is also chosen for the Swiss platform Tanz>Faktor>Interregio 2008.
In 2008 she creates her third piece, "Je pense comme une fille enleve sa robe". In 2009 she receives a research stipendium from CulturesFrance "Hors les murs", for a residency which will take place in Japan.
In may 2009, she win the second price of the swiss contest of choreography in Zurich.
